Islington town hall is a popular venue for civil ceremonies. So far I have photographed around 9 weddings in it’s different rooms and halls. There are different sized rooms suited to ceremonies of different sizes and budgets. I like working in the large hall and also the Mayor’s Parlour, a small but beautifully decorated room for about 12 guests. Town hall staff and registrars are always helpful and friendly which ads to a positive ceremony.
Of course, one of the great things about Islington is the selection of excellent bars and restaurants. Wedding parties often take a stroll from Town hall, along Upper Street to the reception venue. This is good photo opportunity for some natural, mid-walking shots of the couple and guests.
Depending on the venue and route it is sometimes possible to stop for some portraits in a church garden or square.I have photographed in several reception venues in the area and there are many good restaurants to choose from, depending on taste, party size and budget. Frederick’s on Camden passage is a popular choice and the passage itself is one of my favourite spots for photographs in the area.
